BEST ORANGES
PITCAIRN ISLAND’S GOLDEN TREASURE.
One of the Empire's most romantic outposts is Pitcairn Island. It is well known to mariners, and about midway between New Zealand and the Panama Canal on the ocean highway travelled by many ships. Some of the world’s best oranges are grown on Pitcairn Island, so those who know all about oranges tell us. When the liner Ruahine called at the island on her way from Panama to Wellington a few months ago to leave mails away 40 cases of oranges. Many of these Pitcairn Island oranges weighed more than a pound each. They are juicy and well flavoured. One purchaser said he was able to get a small glassful of, juice' out of each orange.
