A special meeting of the Ladies’ committee and others interested in he A- a n<i sIIOVV was * ielc * in tlie yoresters’ Hall on Saturday mornThere were present; Mesdames J- Armstrong, M. C. Jones, G. M Castles, A. P. Wood, A. C. Ishervood, P- T - Keam, J. K. Hamilton, Misses Norris, Snodgrass, and Miss Cavey, Hon. Secretary. An apology was received from Mrs C. E. Keene. Mrs Castles was voted to the chair. The question of tenders received for the luncheon, ice cream, and soft drinks stall was debated. The Ladies’ Committee some time ago considered that this always entailed a big amount of labour, chiefly .devolving upon the womenfolk, and it wi£ thought that if it could all be let by tender satisfactorily, it should be done. This recommendation had been made to the Executive Cpmmittee and tenders were called .'accordingly- The results showed that there was no tender put in for the Luncheon, while two tenders were received for the ice cream and soft drinks stalls. To have accepted any tender would have made the position infinitely worse. So the Executive Committee had no alternative hut not to accept the tenders, and find some way out of the difficulty. With thlsJn view', the position was placed before the Ladies’ Committee. It was unanimously agreed by the Ladies’ Committee to take over the luncheon booth. A sub-commit-jee consisting of Mrs Castles, Mrs Jones, Misses Norris and Gavey was immediately set up to complete arrangements for luncheon. Mrs P- T. Keam agreed to take charge of the ice cream and soft drinks stalls. Mrs Isherwood was appointed manager of the shed exhibits. It was decided to request the Executive Committee to place a man in charge of the hot water, and that at least four coppers be used, and to name a steward ,to assist at the shed. ■ ; A vote of thanks to the chair was carried by acclamation.
