SWIMMING AND RUNNING EVENTS

At the annual New Zealand InterUniversity tournament at Wellington, held during Easter, Mr P. LClark, of Otago University, and formerly of Tauranga, finished second in his heat of the 220 Yards Men’s Swimming Championship. D. H. Symes, of Canterbury, won the heat, his time being 2m 41 2-ss, a New Zealand University record. Symes was successful in the final, his time being 2m 47 2-ss. The 440 Yards Men’s Championship was won by Symes, with F. L. Clark second. The winner's time was 6m 12 3-ss/

Mr R. J. Gavin, a former Tauranga runner, and a member of the Auckland team, ran second in the 100 yards race to F. H. Stephenson (Victoria College). Mr Gavin was also third in the 220 yards race to P. H. Stephenson and H. C. Garlick.
