Mr and Mrs W. Swift, of Te Kuiti, are spending a holiday in Tauranga and arc the guests of Mr‘and Mrs Collett. Chapel Street.
Mr M. Simmonds, Clerk ,of the Court, is now his annual holiday of three weeks, ami during his absence Mr B. J. Gifford, of the Head Office staff of the Justice Department, is ■ n charge of the local oil ice.
Bari Jellicoe. formerly GovernorGeneral of New Zealand, has returticd from his health trip to Madeira (says a London cable). He announces that he vnll relinquish his public activities, including the presidency of the British Legion, which he accepted only recently.
The Hon. J. A. Hanan has been elected chairman of the Statues Revision Committee &f the Upper House
Mr M. Thom, general manager for the British Phosphate Commission a.t Nauru, is at present visiting Rotorua. He will leave Auckland on Saturday on, his return to Nauru Island.
Rear-Admiral Geoffrey Blake. Commanding the New Zealand Naval Station, will sail for England,, via Vancouver, by the Aorangi from Auckland on May 3.
Mr B. A. Quigley, of Sydney, buyer for Woolworth’s, who is en route for England and America, is visiting New Zealand on business connected with the firm.
Mr M. J. Savage M.P., deputyleader of the Labour Party, is making good progress to recovery from his recent illness. He expects to leave Auckland for Wellington on Monday.
