LOST £SOO.
SPORTSMAN’S BAD LUCK. Sydney, March 11. Police are mystified as to how Mr J. M. Samson, New Zealand sportsman, and owner of the horse, Admiral Drake, lost a bundle of New Zealand and Commonwealth £2O and £lO bank notes, totalling nearly £SOO. Mr Samson ha.d carried over £6OO in his hip pocket since arriving on the Marama last Tuesday, but yesterday afternoon transferred the £SOO to an inside vest pocket.
The opening of it is described by the police as ‘‘resembling in size of tin dish.” Last night he attended Her Mar jesty’s Theatre with another man, and on leaving the show discovered his loss.
The £IOO left in the hip pocket he found intact. Mr Samson has detailed his movements yesterday to police, who cannot account for, his loss.
They discount the theory of it being the work t of a pickpocket, and think the notes must have worked out of the pocket. Mr Samson, who is staying at the Carlton Hotel will give a substantial reward for information leading to the recovery of his money.
