POWER COSTS.
MOVEMENT FOR REDUCTION. The following references to power costs was contained in a report presented by the Chairman (Mr H, R. Hogg) to the last meeting of the Bay of Plenty Electric Power Board: A letter has been recived from the Secretary of the Power Boards’ Association in reply to the Board’s letter asking that the executive of the association make representation to the Minister with a view to a reduction of power-costs to the Board! The secretary replied that this letter would come before the executive at its next meeting. The date of the meeting was somewhat indefinite, and advised that if It was decided to hold a conference this year the Board submit later a rqjnit covering he subject matter contained in the Board’s request. A number of consumers have interviewed me in regard to the Board’s activities In seeking a reduction of price of power, and in this connection I have to report that the full Board has made representations to the authorities at least three times during the past year and the finance committee on January 25 last further reviewed the whole position. This Board is working in conjunction with other rural boards with a view to a. reduction, and no doubt strong representation will be made at the next Power Board Conference.
