The past year was by far the driest registered in Kaimai for the last ten years, only f>s inches of rain falling against a.n average of 108 inches for the previous year. A good rain would be very welcome as a large area of land has been sown in grass and there is a large acreage in swedes and soft turnips this vear. There was at least double ’ the amount of hay and ensilage saved this year, so there should be no shortage of feed this winter. Odd idle sections continue to be taken up. A new settler shifted in here last week, but there is still room for many more. Several inquiries are being made for land here.
