TE PUKE NOTES.

TE PUKE DEFEATS RANGITAIKI. The game between Te Puke and Rangitaiki on Saturday was a fast and open one and was played before a moderate attendance. There was a light westerly wind blowing. The teams were: Te Puke. — Full-back. Cleary; three-quarters, W. Webber, Pile, McKenzie; five-eighths, Cooney, Farmer; half-back, Kelly: rover, T. Raymond; forwards. Wickliffe. Webber, Morton. The ball then went to Farmer, who passed to Webber, who missed the pass. Howell secured and relieved. From the line-out Oswald passed to P. Howell to R. Howell to Lees who short punted, but Cleary gave relief, his kick just missing the line. Broderick secured and made a great run, being pushed out near the line. Howell then sent his backs away but Pile cut in and made a fast run down the line, passing to Webber who was well taken by R. Lees. Uangitaiki kept up the attack and from a high kick by Howell. Cleary was unable to get his kick in and was caught with the ball. Prom the scrum Kelly secured, but Uangitaiki was awarded a free kick. P. Howell took the kick but was unable to put it over. Even play followed until the Te Puke backs got going, the ball going out to Webber and he scored. The try was not converted: Te Puke. 10; Rangitaiki, 5. Plalf time sounded. After the interval both teams settled down better ami play was confined to mid-field until McNaughton secured and gained ground with a line kick. Kelly secured from the line and sent his backs away, but: Howellrelieved and made an attacking movement, dribbling the ball along at his feet.
