THIS IiVENING’S PROGRAMMES. Reviews of the programmes to be broadcast by the New Zealand stations to-night Is as follows: The Rev. Angus MacDonald, Secretary of the Auckland Zoological Society, will lecture from IYA this evening at 7.40 on “The Sacred Ibis of the Egyptians.” Instrumental items on lYA’s programme will be suppHed by the Studio Trio, Mr Cyril Towsey (pianist) and Mr E. V. Johnson (flautist). Mr Johnson is a new artist to IYA and his appearance will be welcomed, particularly by those who enjoy the many delightful solos which are written for the flute. Miss Doris Moore (contralto), Madame Mary Towsey (soprano), and Mr John Bree (baritone) will sing. The programme wll lalso include a gramophone lecture-recital of the latest recordings. A miscellaneous programme which will Include several operatic numbers will be given from 2YA. Miss Dorothy Newman (soprano) will feature two numbers from musical comedies and Mr Ernest Short will sing “The Song of the Flea.’ ’ Miss Jessie Smith’s items will be “Angels Guard Thee,” “The Swan,” “Obstination" and "Secrecy.” Mr Chas. Edwards' numbers will be "Where’er you walk” and "Rose Marie.” Mr W. J. Mountjoy, Junr., will recite two numbers. The piano soloist for the evening will be Miss Mary Lennle. The Orchestrina, under Signor A. P. Truda, will play items in keeping with the programme. The Valencia Quartette (Miss Mary Taylor, Miss Lucy Fullwood, Mr T. G. Rogers and Mr E. J. Johnson) will be the vocalists on a bright entertainment from 3YA. An accomplished accordian player, Mr E. Cosgrave, will present a number of popular airs, including the well known Maori turn.!, “E Pare Ra.” The Studio Octet wiil play, among other things, the “Pique Dame” overture and Myddleton’s “Melodies of Wales.” An interesting feature of the instrumental programme will be the playing of Ganne’s “Extase” by a combination of violin, ’cello, harp, piano and organ.

A popular concert programme be broadcast by 4YA this evening. Miss Alma Finnerty, Miss Helen Roy, Mr J. B. Hamilton and Mr N. Gamble will be the vocalists. Miss T. Northey will recite. Instrumental numbers will be provided by Mr P. J. Palmer (’cello), Mr Max Scherek (pianist) and the 4YA Trio.
