The Bay of Plenty Times will not be issued on Easter Monday.

Full particulars relative to the Memorial Service 'to be held in the Town Hall at 2,15 p.m. on Anzac Day, April 25, are advertised to-day. A procession will leave the school at 1.4 s p.m. and will march to 'the Town Hall. Veterans, Returned Soldiers, Territorials, Senior Cadets, Girl Guides, Boy Scouts, members of the St. John Ambulance Association, Municipal Band, Fire Brigade, and all other public bodies are asked to parade at the school at 1.30 p.m. Cars will be provided to convey veterans and Returned Soldiers to the) Service. General Sir Andrew Russell, K.C.8., K.C.M.G., President of the New Zealand Returned Soldiers’ Association, will deliver the address at the Memorial Service. The children’s service will be held in the Town Hall at 10.30 a.m.

A number of local sporting enthusiasts intend being present at the Bay of Plenty Sports Club’s Carnival to be held at Whakatane on Easter Monday. A special train leaves Tauranga at 6.50 a.m.

Two motor cars and a motor cycle were, involved in an accident on Cameron Road, in the vicinity of Eleventh Avenue on Thursday evening. Messrs Charles Cameron (junr.) and Douglas Cameron were cycling into town when a car driven by R. Richards collided with their machine. Then the car apparently swerved and came into collision with another car driven by Miss Merriman. Mr D. Cameron sustained a severe cut over the eye which necessitated surgical attention. The cycle was badly smashed and Miss Merriman’s car was also damaged.

The Town Clerk (Mr R. B. Shearman) notifies that all cows found at large on and after May 1, within that part of the Borough north and including First Avenue, will be impounded without further notice.

At the annual meeting of householders at Grccrton, -the following school committee was elected: Mr A. S. McKinlay (chairman), Mrs E. B. Jones, Mrs K .E. Collett, Mr C. 1 Kennedy and Mr W. A. C. Douglas. When returning from Te Awamutu on Thursday afternoon, and about fifteen miles out on the Kaimai Road IMr A. Brewer, who was driving his car alone met with an unusual accident. Travelling along at an average speed, the car got into soft ground, and swerved and mounted the bank, turning completely over. Mr Brew'er escaped with some bad cuts,-and is at present confined to his bed. The car was badly damaged. Mr Brookes, w’ho happened to be on the road shortly after the accident happened, brought Mr Brewer to <own.

A sharp rise in the price of eggs is reported from Auckland. Current values for first quality hen eggs are: Special grade, 3/1 dozen; A grade, 3/; B grade 2/6. Duck eggs; Special grade, 2/11; A grade, 2/10; B ( , grade, 2/6.

Although the season is well advanced there are a fair number of visitors at Tauranga and ~ Mount Maunganui, including people from Rotorua, Te Aroha, and other places. Mr Ned Parata, a former president .pf the Bay of Plenty Rugby Union, and a well-known Rugby enthusiast, has offered to donate a silver Cup to the Bay Union for sub-union competition. The donor stipulates that the conditions of the competition shall be the same as the Kusabs’ Cup.

The Stockbrokers’ Association. insert,' an advertisement in reference to the cattle fairs to be held at the Matawhero Yards, Gisborne, on April 29 and 30, (male cattle and weaners) and May 6 and 7 (female cattle). The entries total 6700 head .

Last night complaints were received by the police regarding a dis'turbance in R house in Cameron. Road. Constables'Davies and Moore proceeded *to the house with the result that two men and two women Wei*e arrestod and appeared before the court this morning on charges of drunkenness. Constable Skinner stated there had been several complaints about disorderly behaviour at the same house. The two men were each fined £i and the women ten shillings each. Challenges from Te. Puke, Rotorua and Opotiki have been received in that order by the Secretary of the Bay of Plenty Rugby Union for the Te Hurinui-Apanui Shield. Tc Puke will meet the holders (Tauranga') on June 14. The dates for the other two challengers, if the holders exercise the right of a fortnight’s privilege between each Shield match, will be—Rotorua v. holders June 28, and Opotiki v. holders, July 12.
