PRESENTATION TO MISS M, PRYOR. •

A pleasing ceremony took place in the Borough Council Chambers on Thursday afternoon, when the Mayor, Councillors and members of the staff assembled to bid good-bye to Miss M. Pryor, who_ is resigning from the council's staff.

His Worship the Mayor, Mr B. C. Robbins, said they were assembled to officially say good-bye to' Miss Fryer and to show their appreciation of her services. He apologised for the absence of the Town Clerk, Mr R. B. Shearman, who was away from town. He paid a tribute to the excellent services accomplished hv Miss Pryor. It was with feelings of regret that they were saying good-bye to. her as a member of the Council’s staff. He extended to her ■ the, very best wishes of the Council, the staff, and himself for happiness, prosperity and long life.

Mr C. W. Boak, borough engineer, . endorsed the Mavor’s remarks. He said that during his association with the Ministry of Munitions in London, he had not met a more capable person “than - Miss Pryor had proved to be. He wished' to add his felicitations.

Cr C. Whiting, heartily endorsed the appreciative references that had been made to Miss Pryor, and said the Council was sorry to lose her services. He wished her good health and prosperity. Mr L. R. Will; inson, speaking for absent councillors and ,members of the staff, said they were all' sorry that Miss Pryor was leaving and all extended to her their best wishes. Mr R. Bamberry added his tribute to Miss Pryor’s worth. •

On behalf of the Council, members of the staff, and himself,’the Mayor then presented Miss Pryor with a .valuable silver tea-service, which was handed over amidst the hearty applause of all present. ■ Miss Pryor, in a neat little speech, thanked the donors for their beautiful gift, which she said would always serve to remind her of the happy associations with the Mayor, councillors and 'of the Borough staff.
