MANY PEOPLE INJURED IN INDIAN RIOTS
Cars Wrecked by Mob. ROADS BLOCKED. Calcutta, April 16 Additional details of the rioting in Calcutta yesterday show that trancars were stoned at Bhowanipore and nine people were injured, including a woman, who is in a grave condition. Several cars were wrecked. The police arrested 20 rioters. Dumps of stones were found on the tops of houses. Fifty people, including 15 British police sergeants and Indian constables and 11 firemen, were in-
jured. Two Sikhs were taken to hospital suffering from bullet wounds. ' Miss Anna Dench, a British girl, was pulled from a motor cycle and stoned. She was rescued by British policemen while she was being dragged away by Sikhs. Armed police, using bayonets, finally cleared the streets, Many roads were blocked by dismantled cars.
