MURDERER ATTEMPTS SUICIDE. Dunedin, Aug. 8 A tragedy mat appears to be the- outcome of domestic unhappiness occurred Here last night, and its a result a woman lost tier life and her husband lies in the hospital. Tne persons involved are u lUiam iienrv iirauman, aged -16, and Dorothy Brauman, his wife, agey 'The tragedy was enacted at the St. Clair Beach, near the esplanade, at aboilt 8.20 p.m. Brauman was picked up in an unconscious condition with a bullet wound in his head. Close by was the body of his wife. She had been shot through the head. It is understood that Brauman, who recently arrived from Invercargill, where he followed the occupation of a cat pen ter, was separated from his wife. An ambulance was promptly despatched to the scene, and the husband Was conveyed to the hospital.
Later details of the St. Clair tragedy show that Mrs Brauman was walking 'along the esplanade with her daughter, aged 14, when she was accosted by her husband, who drew a revolver and shut her through the head. Death was instantaneous, the body falling over the embankment on to the rocks below. Before tRe daughter had realised what had happened Brauman turned the weapon on himself. Sub-Inspector Cummings, who lives nearby, and three detectives from the central station, were quickly on the scene. Brauman was taken to the hospital where the authorities report his condition to be not very serious. Brauman had been separated from his wife for a year. The couple had four children, the eldest a youth and the youngest a boy of 10, the other two being girls.
