AUCKLAND JQUOTATIONS. Larger supplies of potatoes have been arriving from the South, many samples being unfortunately in an immature state, thus requiring to be picked over. The best rejpicked sell at £8 10s ex store, but Homier prices are readily quoted for iiniferior .quality. A demand has sprung up from Sydney for shipment to that port, to bo transhipped to various South Sea Islands, on account of the New Zealand price being so much more favourable than that ruling for Tasmanian potatoes. Some may go by the Ulimaroa oh Friday, in addition to shipments direct to the Islands by the Tofua. However the restrictions on landing in Australia have not been removed, so none will be sent to the Commonwealth itself for the present. Bran and Pollard. —Both are scarce. In pollard this has become sufficiently pronounced for orders to be sent to Australia for regular supplies, as Southern mills are unable to send any more at'present. No move has so far been made to relieve the scarcity In bran. Maize.—Gisborne is the chief source of supply, very little now coming from the Bay of Plenty. The price has advanced at the former centre, where it is explained that a heavy demand is coming from Wellington, Palmerston North and Napier, in addition to Auckland, and the local price has advanod to 6s 9d, ex store.
