The linal race for the Mann Chip took place on Saturday, eight seven-footers competing. The result was Mistral 1, Speedwell 2, Opal 3. Speedwell wins the Chip.

An Auckland message says that as the result of a collision between a motor ear and a motor lorry at the corner of Edendale Road and Burnley Terrace, Miss V. Shanks a passenger by the ear, was thrown from her seat to the roadway, and sustained a compound fracture of the skull. Her condition is serious.

Messrs Robbins and Wilkinson, J.P’s presided at a sitting of the Court this morning, when Willie Raymond was charged with stealing two rug-., valued at £2 3s. t the property of Mr J. Murray. Raymond, who is a half-caste, native belonging to Te Puke, pleaded guilty, and was sentenced to three months’ hard labour in the Auckland prison. He had several previous convictions against him. Neville Mollar pleaded guilty to using obscene language in a ’’billiard saloon. He was convicted and fined £2/10/0. A prohibition order was also issued, with the consent of accused.
