Mr Fleming outlined the proceedings at Whakatane, pointing out that Taurauga made alternative offers of sale of power or amalgamation. The committee favoured fire purchase of power, in bulk at the western boundary ot the, Whakatane County in preference to amalgamation. Mr McCracken said h© had beard that Tauranga was now practically inviting amalgamation. Mr Hewitt suggested that mformatiou be obtained concerning the Watkaremoana scheme. Mr Gow suggested that they writ© to the Government’s chief electrical engineer to obtain information concerning both Waikaremoana and Arapuni.
