The -question of the source of power was raised by Mr -Gordon. Mr Gow expressed the' opinion that Tauranga was Lite cheapest source of power 111 New Zealand, and that it would give them the quickest and best service, c Mr Gordon; In any case we should have Viekerman and Lancaster’s opinion. On the chairman's suggestion it was decided to write to Messrs Viekerman & Lancaster asking one of them to meet the Board. Mr Hathaway said he would provide each member or the Board \\ itli a copv of Mr Lancaster’s original report and of the report that was prepared after t he Whakatane conference. 'Tire Botird resolved to communicate Avith Mr Mandeno. electrical engineer, Tauranga, inquiring as to the proper authority to write to in connection with the Tauranga scheme. Mr Fleming outlined the proceedings at Whakatane, pointing out that Taurauga made alternative offers of sale of power or amalgamation. The committee favoured fire purchase of power, in bulk at the western boundary ot the, Whakatane County in preference to amalgamation. Mr McCracken said h© had beard that Tauranga was now practically inviting amalgamation. Mr Hewitt suggested that mformatiou be obtained concerning the Watkaremoana scheme. Mr Gow suggested that they writ© to the Government’s chief electrical engineer to obtain information concerning both Waikaremoana and Arapuni.
