The commission charged by the Public Trustee for the administration of estates has recently been substantially reduced. With a few miner exceptions commission on, the capital of estates when realised is now charged according to the following scale: On the first £5,000, 2J per cent. On the next £5,000, per cent. On the next £40,000, 1 per cent. On excess of £50,000, 3-4 per cent. When assets are transferred in kind the charges are; On the first £5,000, li per cent. On the next £5,000, 1 per cent- On all in excess of £IO,OOO, h per cent. The commission charged on j rent or on interest on mortgages has been reduced from 5 per cent to 2A per cent on amounts in excess of £SOO per annum. The Public Trustee has power to reduce the charge when such a course is warranted, and reductions are readily made in suitable cases. Full particulars of the charges made for the administration of estates will be supplied cn application to the Public Trustee, Wellington, or at any Branch of the Public Trust Office.
