Colonel F. H, Greenhough, New Zealand representative for Sir W. G. Armstrong, Whitworth and Co., Ltd., who recently returned from a visit to the Old Country, is visitin Tanrauga and is staying at the Com n 1 crc ial Hot el. Mr Al. Paul, inspector of mines, is visiting the Te Puke district. Air G. A. Lee, of the firm oi Alessrs Blair Alason, Lee and Brown, consulting engineers to the local Harbour Board, is visiting Ta.uranga. The death occurred at Te Alatal on'Friday last of Mr Henry Preston Webber, at the age of fifty-nine years. The late Air Webber resided for a long period in the Stratford district and some years ago purchased land at Te Alatai where he had since resided. He leaves to mourn his loss a widow and large family. The late Air Webber was of a cheery disposition and was held in high esteem by a wide circle of friends. Mr R. Coulter, Alayor of Te Aroha and Chairman of the Thames Harbour Board, who is contesting the Tauranga seat at the general election, arrived here- on Friday and left on his return to Te Aroha. to-day. During his stay Mr Coulter met a large number of those who are interested in poli--1 tics. A pioneer of the Pukekohe district,, Air John Savage, died at the Auckland Hospital at the age of 93. As a young man, Mr Savage belonged to Dublin, being a member of the Royal Irish Constabulary. He came to New Zealand in the ship Ganges in 1865 and served in the militia during, the Maori War. When peace was restored he took up land at Pukekohe West, which was then in virgin bush. He farmed in the district for fifty years. Dr T. H. A.
