PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

GAB DEN FETE AND CONCERT. A garden feie organised by the Women's Guild of ;he Presbyterian Church was held in the- Church Hall and grounds on Thursday hist. Delightful weather prevailed and the attendance was good. Well stocked stalls were a tended bv the following ladies: Cakes. Mesdames Hickey and Cameron ; Produce. Mesdames Black. ITynds, and Ward ; Jumble, Mesdames Johnston* and Young; Flowers, Mrs Meikle and Miss Gilmore; Ice Cream. Mrs Whitaker and Miss Bates ; Sweets, Mrs R. KniglTt and the Misses Johnston. A delicious afternoon tea was served to all, this department being in charge of Mesdames McNaughion. Johnston. Fcxcroft and Chapman. Miss Boyd and Mrs G. Maltby organised the entertaining outdoor games and competitions. A cooking competition, of which Mrs F. IT. Hammond was the judge, was won by the following: Fruit Cake, Mrs Johnston ; Sandwich cake, Mrs Mi Ison ; Pastry. Mrs Hickey ; Scones, Mrs Milson ; Shortbread, Mrs Hickey: Home-made bread. Mrs W. Foxcroft. An enjoyable concert was held in the evening; songs being rendered by Mrs Castles, Miss Gilmour. Miss Jordan and Mr Suddard Foster, and by a quartette -Messrs Meikle (2) Shearman and Duff. Recitations by Air G. Wills were much enjoyed. and an orchestra], quintette - Mrs Corrigan. Messrs Mount fort, Ivory, Clarke and Boyd --rendered sweet music- The accompaniments were played by Mrs Suddard Foster, Mrs Castles and M'iss Mirriclees. A small play entitled “Brownie at Home.” arranged by Mrs Meikle. was charmingly acted by Mi sses Mary Walker. Dorothy Wills, Betty and Moira Hardy, Jessie Fester and Masters Keith Meikle, Dudley Mountfort and Charles Wrigley.
