For the seven months of 1922 tint imports of merchandise amounted to £lB, 332,209. and in 1921 to, £29,983.191. This year’s figures air a long way heloAv the boom figures ot 1921, but they arc gradually creeping up. The imports of soft goods for the seven months shew a decrease of £776,000. compared with the corresponding term last year, wdiile on I he. nt 1 tor hand hard wart 1 and metal goods increased £723,000, cr about 23 per cent. Of this increase £508.000 is due to the expanding imports of electrical machinery, etcFeedstuff's increased by £705,000, almost entirely due to- the expansion of imports of wlTeat and oilier cereals. The Imports of tea amounted in 6,504.1881 b, against 6,117,4161 b last year and 4.960.885 lb in the seven men lbs of 1922. The number of motor vehicles imported totalled 11,019. against 6707 last year and 1244 in 1922. The imuerts of benzine totalled 16.890.056 gallons, against 13,356.168 gallons lasi vear.
