-Mr MeAdoo, after repeated conferences with hih lieutenants, decided to throw in his strength in the convention to Mr E. T. Meredith, of lowa, who was Secretary of Agriculture in the late Mr Wi Ison’s Cabinet. The ninety-ninth ballot showed: McAdoo. 353 i ; Smith, 353; Davis, 210 : Underwood, 39f ; Glass, 38 ; Meredith. 37. This represented a loss of 421votes for MeAdoo. a loss of one for Smith, and a gain of 15f for Davis. The Times. Hec. July 10, 9.15 a.m. Vancouver, July 9 Mr John W. Davis, of West. Virginia, and former Ambassador to Britain, has been nominated by the Democrats for the Presidency.
