-Mr MeAdoo, after repeated conferences with hih lieutenants, decided to throw in his strength in the convention to Mr E. T. Meredith, of lowa, who was Secretary of Agriculture in the late Mr Wi Ison’s Cabinet. The ninety-ninth ballot showed: McAdoo. 353 i ; Smith, 353; Davis, 210 : Underwood, 39f ; Glass, 38 ; Meredith. 37.
