CARNIVAL NOTES

A. meeting of the general committee was held in the Borough Council Chambers l on Friday evening, Mr Beale presiding. An interim balance l sheet was read by the Secretary, which showed a credit! of over £2OO. A properly audited balance sheet will be published as scon as a final settlement can be made.

It was decided that the opening date for the Week’s Carnival worm] be Tuesday, February 19, 1924.

Thd Executive are to arrange a final programme of events for Carnival Week and submit it to the committee.

A hearty vote of thanks was passed to all who assisted in carrying out the recent carnival. It- was decided to have the presenting of the colours in the second week of January, when a unique entertainment will be provided. AH the schools in and about the town are to be circularised with a view to getting the children to take part in a children’s day.

The Minister of Internal Affairs is to he asljed to permit an art union for gold nuggets. __
