ELECTROCUTED BY CLOTHES LINE

A woman has been electrocuted while- hanging washing- on a line at the village of St. Louis du Rhone, near Marseilles. The line, was of wire, had become “live” through indirect contact with overhead electric lines during a storm, the current passing along the_ wet branches of a tree. The victim, Madame Carles, aged 46, was heard to scream, and her son-in-law found her dead suspended to the line by one hand. Another instance- of die kind occurred in the same locality, but without fatal results. Madame Badcuix, taking in her washing, touched the line and could not get free. A woman went to- her aid then a man, and then a. second man. AH four remained suspended from the- wire. It was only when a neighbour, wearing sabots, which acted as insulators, came to their rescue, thru they were released.
