CARPENTIER BEATEN
Paris, Sept 24. Rattling Siki, the Senegalese boxer, beat Ge-oirges Garpentiefr, the French champion, for the lightheavyweight ohampioinship, winning on a foul in the sixth, round. Carpe-ntier scaled 12.6 and Siki the same. Carpent-ier treated Siki contemptuously in the first .round, which ended evenly. In the second round Siki overcame his nervousness and showed to better advantage. The Fmnclunan realised that he was lighting for his title, and in t-ho third rcundf fought hammer and tongs, the honours being again .-lightly in Siki’s favour. Siki had all the best of t-ho fourth round, Carpentier being punched all round the line and badjy punished. In the fifth round Siki carried all beiure him and (,’arpentiefr, whose tye was closed, started butting with his head. The referee cautioned him. In the sixth round Siki set. a fexce pace and in the middle of the loniu! Carpentier fell. Everyone thought Siki had knocked him out, but- the reteree called a foul declaring that- Siki tripped Garpentier. 1 he judges entered the ring, and the doctor staled that Garpentier's ankle was sprained.
