(J ? r> lecriL:'--‘PK»I - 'VMt’n 1 ~At r ,u»a-me N- C*y. At.-v-isaco Rec Sept 26, morning New York. Sept 25 Indications of the possibility of another Arctic tragedy came in a brief wireless from the Siberian coast, received by Stellansson today. Morn than a year ago several Canadians sailed for Wrangel Island, off the coast ol Siberia, for the purpose of claim ing it und.r the British flag. A brief message arrived some time ago, announcing the party’s arrival at Wrangel Island. Then came a call for relief. Steftansson sent the schooner Teddy Bear to rescue the patty, whose vessel, it appeared, had been lost. Ihe message received to-day reported that Siberian reindeer herders saw the Teddy Bear trapped in the ice. Steffansson has expressed great anxiety. Tie thought it might be necessary to make an eight hundred mile sledge journey next February to rescue both the Teddy Bear’s crew and the Wrangel Island expedition.
