STEWARD IN IRONS.
London Sept 4 How a steward of the steamer Austgalford invaded thej sick captain’s cabin and demanded money at the pistol’s point was told at tiro West: Ham Courty when Malcobu Duncan was charged with having wilfully disobeyed lawful commands and was sentenced to the maximum term of four weeks’ imprisonment. One evening, when the captain was ill in bed, Duncan burst into., ids cabin and presented ait automatic pistol, shouting, “You’re sick and I'm desperate. You’ll be dead unless yon give me £2.” The captain temporised until some; of the officers arrived, when Duncan was put in irons. Duncan, who pleaded guilty, said: “I had the snakes, and wasn’t fit to work.”
