HARBOUR BOARD MATTERS

MONTHLY MEETING OF HOARD. The culinary monthly meeting of tlio Tauranga Harbour Board was held in the Coronation Hall yesterday. Present: Messrs R. King (chairman), 1). Grant, C. Lally, V. McDowell, 11. M, Marlin, <l. G. Green, 11, Southey, and Colonel G. A. Ward. Railway Wharves. The Secretary of the Wanganui Harbour Board wrote asking for information’relative to charges made, to the Board by the Railway Department- for working wharves on the Beard’s behalf.

The Secretary had replied giving particulars concerning the charges levied by the Public Works Department's service wharf. The reply furnished by the Secretary was approved. Ferry to Mount Lauding.

Mr J. Poland, M.P., be requested to protest to the Government against any alteration being made m the respective exemlicns now enjoyed by Boards in regard to: (a) land tax, (b) debenture Ur I limitation csf 2/6 per ill, (c) ordinary income tax. The motion was seconded by Mr South'ey and canned unanimously. Sinking Fund Commissioner. The Chief Accountant of the Public Trust Office, Wellington, wrote acknowledging the receipt of letter! advising that the Board had appointed the Public Trustee sinking fund commissioner for its loan of .£IO,OOO being portion of loan o:f‘ £ 125,000. Before this matter is I submitted to the Public Trust Office Hoard for formal acceptance - he will lie glad to receive a sealed copy of a resolution appointing the Public Trustee Sinking Fund Commissk ner in respect of this loan. He ha-: written to the District Public Trustee, Hamilton, requesting him to communicate with the Board and arrange for the necessary information to be obtained and submitted to the Board.

The District Public, Trustee, Hamilton, in writing on the same subject, asked for a sealed copy of the Board’s resolution appointing the Public Trustee Spiking Fund Commissioner, 'The Secretary read a copy of the document required. The necessary motion authoris--ing the sealing of the document was proposed by the Chairman, seconded by M r Martin, and carried unanimously.
