PUBLIC OPINION
I’IIOXEST FJiOM OKOIM. (To the Editor). Sir, I would like to draw the attention of the people of Tauranga and district to the present state of affairs in connection with onr roads at Oropi. 1 understand there is a sum of £l5O to be spent on a side road here known as Ludwig's Road. This road leads to nowhere and bene fits no one with the possible exception of ono small settler. The sum of £4OO was spent not eighteen months ago on this side road for the benefit cf this one settlor. Surely ■one would have to look a long way in New Zealand to find another settler who could get £4OO spent on a road to his property and now another £l5O to (inker up a few grades. As an instance of the small use to which the road is put, 1 point out that there is more grass growing on the formed road than on the surrounding paddocks. There is also a notice at the commencement of the road reading as follows: “This road leads on to private property, Trespassers Prosecuted.” Surely this is a red hot proposition for tho expenditure of more money while our main road is in the state it is. While I realise that my single protest can bo of little avail, T trust, Air Editor, that you will see the justice of my protest, and give it the publicity it deserves. I am, etc., W. ROBINSON. Oropi, June 3, 1922.
