Farmers' Auctioneiring Co, Lid.

The Farmers' Go-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd., Hamilton, report under date July 31:— Tn some of our markets there has i been a slight decline in beef, although this refers more particularly to beef of plain quality. Supplies are coming in rapidly off turnips and this is apparently exercising a steadying influence. Prime quality is still in strong demand and certain to remain so. The market for mutton is also steady with good supplies offering. There has not been any market advance since our last report. Tempted by the improved conditions store cattle have been coming forward in large numbers, causing a slight depression. The unusually long succession of frosts just experienced has no doubt also had an influence in this direction. Fresh conditioned cows and two-year steers are being sought after. Empty heifers also have somewhat recovered. The enquiry for young cattle is firm, hut heifers have not apparently maintained that advantage over steers that existed a few weeks ago. The market for store sheep is much ©n a par with our last report. All classes of forward conditioned sheep are in good demand. Ewes in lamb still seem to be gaining ground and all of this class offering as a rule change hands. Amidst the fluctuations that took place in the dairy cattle branch it is difficult to determine the actual tendency. The scarcity of feed must naturally have a very depressing effect, but after making due allowance for this it must be admitted that there has, generally speaking, been a lack of vim in the dairy cattle market during the month just closed. At our Hamilton sale this month horses cf all classes were in great demand, vendors in most cases realizing well above the prices anticipated. The outlook for the coming spring month? looks promising. There has been almost an entire absence of bacon pigs from the markets lately, although- the enquiry is strong. Weaners and slips are selling freely at rates on a par with our last report We quote as follows : —
