IMPORTANT RUGBY MATCH AT TAURANGA TO-MORROW AFTERNOON.

Auckland Reps, to Meet Bay of Plenty.

The Auckland representative footballers are due to arrive here v'the steamer Ngapuhi to-mor-row morning, and in the afternoon will meet the chosen fifteen of the P IV of Plenty on the local Domain- The Auckland team is a formidable one, and this is proved by the fact that they have won nearly all their matches this season, their laurels including the defeat of the New Zealand repre---nt-itive* at Auckland a few Ss ago.' The Bay of Plenty men will need to be in the pink of condition it they are to hold tUtir own against the city players, w ho will have the benefit of combination as the result of playing together in various contests. The trip to Wellington and Wanganui should, however, be beneficial £ o the country team, and there is every indication that they will be able to show sufficient combination to enable them to make a creditable showing against the doughty Northerners. If the weather remains fine to-morrow's contest should be productive of an attractive afternoon's sport, and will no doubt draw a record crowd to the local recreation ground. The game is to start at 2.3oo'clock. The train arrangements are very suitable. A train will leave Matata at 9a.m., excursionists reaching here at 12.30. The ferry boat will leave tne Town Wharf about 5.15 p.m., in time to connect with the train from the Mount at six o'clock. A large number of enthusiasts from the eastern district are expected to make the trip to Tauranga-

Notes

Several of the players named in the Auckland team visited here a few weeks ago and played for Grammar OldJßoys in the match against the Tauranga Union On that occasion McLeod and Olsen were prominent in the back division, and Cleal and Knight in the vanguard. The names of Prussing and Lomas are familiar in ■'. Thames football, and both are brilliant men. Baddeley is above the average as a place kick. Many cf the other men represent the highest- pinnacle in Dominion Rugby, and given a favourable sea trip should be capable of reproducing their best form on the local groundThe local shops will close tomorrow afternoon for an hour and a half from 2.30 till 4 o'clock. j The scoring coupons are going i off very well. The person who gives the exact score registered by each side will receive a prize of £1. The closing hour ..for receiving, coupons is five o'clock this (Friday) evening. The coupons are dined as received, and in the event of more than one person stating the exact scores the prize will be awarded to the correct one first received The whole of the proceeds go towards the expenses of the match, and the bringing of the two teams together is a costly matter. The Bay of Plenty players are due to arrive this afternoon and will make their headquarters at the Tauranga Hole!. The Aucklanders will stay at the Commercial Hotel

_Four of the Whakatane men — Hutchins, Heather, Stewart and Merton — reached here by train and ferry at noon today- The fifth Whakatane man, the redoubtable Pattie, is due to arrive at five o'clock, at which hour Mr garata (President of the Bay of Plenty Union) and the Rotorua Contingent are also expected.
