CRICKET.

The Tauranga team was defeated by the Te Puke team yesterday by six wickets, after an exciting game. Tauranga in the first innings scored 124, and Te Puke 122. In their second innings Tauranga collapsed, scoring only 65, leaving Te Puke 68 nins to get to win, with only fifty mm utes to play. They knocked up the runs with a few minutes to spare, after losing five wickets.

Te Puke are to be complimented on their plucky win, and they were undoubtedly the best team on the field. Ralfe, Wilson and J. Jordan were the most prominent batsmen for Te Puke. Ralfe played two beautiful innings. For Tauranga Frank Jordan, Renshaw, Duff, Chadban and Woodruff were the batsmen who made the runs, Jordan playing a nice steady innings for 50.. Bowling for Te Puke Liddicutt 3 wickets for 3 runs, Ralfe 4 for 30, and Wilson 2 for 24 were the most successful bowlers in the first innings, and in the second innings Downey 6 for 13, and Baker 2 for 19 were the most successful. Bowling for Tauranga in the first innings Woodruff took 8 wickets for 16 runs and Duff 4 for 30, and in the second innings Duff took 3 wickets for 36 and Woodruff 2 for 20 runs.
