Mrs M.Jordan, represented by Air liKlhope, appealed for the total exemption of her son. Private J c Jordan, who had been on service for nearly two years and returned to the Dominion five week sago on furlough.

Mrs Jordan stated she was a, widow and her other son was serving with the forces in France. Prf. vate J. C. Jordan, who is married assisted her financially and in order to continue to do so it would bo necessary for him _to have total exemption. • ■ Private J. C. Jordan testified that ■ if he went back to the front big business would not permit him to continue the allowance to hfe mother, but if he were permitted to remain he could run the business, and continue the allowance from the business. He had been granted an extension of time until October.

The Katikati Co-operative Dairy Company appealed for the exemption of N. A. Bloinquist, manager of the Katikati butter factory. Mi C. E. Macmillan, Secretary of the Company, gave evidence to the effect that Mr Blomquist had been , manager of the factory for about twelve years and was a very satis- "■ factory man. The exemption was in accordance with the recommendation - of the Efficiency Board. W. T. Rea, Cl, a farmer, of KatK' kati, based his claim for exemption ' en his occupation. He had one brother, who had enough to do for himself and could not work appellant's farm if the lat-> , ■ ter went into camp. Mr Hockly advised that the Board would get a report on the case and then give a decision. B. Wood, an engineer, of Tanra** . nga, classified Cl, appealed on the •"• ground that he was the support of a delicate widowed mother and also of a wife and two children. Appellant gave evidence as to his earnings and the delicate state of his mother's; health.
