RIFLE SMOOTING.
On 24th inst. a match was fired for Mr J. Pease's trophy. A battle practice was fired under service condition?, which resulted in some close matches and much fun. The two men in each heat had three steel plates each to shoot down, *.ho winner being the man who got bis three kills first. Only six cartridges were allowed each man. Ge i. Moore and S. Oliver were eft for the final, but the excitement proved ton oiucb for them as they each only got two kills, condequently tbey had to fire again, when S. Oliver cleverly beat G. Moore. Major Mirrieleea conducted the practice.
