FIGHT WITH A PUMA.
Two Heroic Children.
Albert Medals have been awarded to Doreen Ashburnhfim, eged' 11, and Anthony Farrar, aged 8, who live with their parenra at C-jwicban Lake, Vancouver Island. The children left their homes for the purpoße of catching their ponies. Suddenly a large puma attacked them—they were almost upon the creature when they saw it crouching in iheir uath. The puma sprang and knocked the girl d)Wn, but the boy attacked the beast, which wss on tbe girTs back, with his fist 9 diid a riding bridle. The puma then turne i upon the boy, and the girl, jumping to her feet, . fought the animal with ' her clencheQ hands, actually putting an arm into tbe puma's mouth-to prevent it from biting her companion. Thus she got ihe puma off tha boy, but, standing on its hindquarters, it continued to flgbt the girl, until, frigMened by a sudden noise, it slunk off. The children, who were bnuly injured, reached their homes. The puma wad subsequently killed. 1-
