Australiau and N Z Cable Aasoc Ptec Jao 16, 1 30 a in London, Jan 14 Continuing his statement on the Man-power Bill, the Minister for National Service, Sir Aucklaud Geddes said the contributions to the British army had b«en as follows: — England 4,530,000 Scotland 620,000 Wales 230,000 Ireland 170,000 Dominions and Colonies 900,000 Tne army immediately neeckd 420,----000 to 450,000 more men. It was untrue that the British army in the field was dwindling. It was atill stronger than ever, but it was necsssary to look ahead and to provide for tie services in the rear. Sir Auckland Geddes said the pioblem could not be solved dramatically. The Bill empowers the DirectorGeneral of National Services to with draw occupational exemptions. Apart from the army's needs, the labouremploying Departments required 430,----000 more men and 119.U00 more women. Aleady 815,000 women munition workers were employed.
