Sir Auckland Geddes, Director of National Services, in introducing the Man Power Bill, said man power was the central war problem. The.most urgent need at present was men for the aririy. The position of Britain's MVies laid the heaviest burden ;on Britain until America was ready. The Allies were still substantially superior to tho enemy as regards meu, despite the Russia v and Rumanian situation, but the Russians' withdrawal releases 1,600,000.' of the enotny for tho West. The Empire hitherto had raised 7,500,000 troops. Reuters Telegrams London, Jan 14 In the House of Commons, Sir Auckland Geddea announced that the ijfaveramect had decided for the' present that the military age would be neither lowered nor raised. Compulsion would hot be introduced in Ireland, but ho would not hesitate to adopt any or all of these measures if the military needs were not met otherwise.
