It was therefore a foregone conclusion that if I again contested the Mayoralty, I should decline nomination for the Harbour Board. I immediately made my decision in this matter known, as your columns testify, and announced it it the next Harbour Board meeting. My promise not to contest the Harbour Board seat was made openly to all men acd applies no more to Mr n Rpbbina than to Mr Carmichiel. My conception of the work of the Mayoralty| is that it will require tha whole of one man's energy to adequately discharge the duties pertaining thereto.
