COMING ELECTIONS.

Un Wednesday next at noon nominations close for the Mayoralty, for the

nine seats on the Borough Council, for two representatives of the Borough on the Harbour Board, and for one representative oa the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board. So far Mr Macmillan, the present Mayor, and Mr J. C. Adams, who was a candidate for the position two years ago, ate the cmly candidates, aud the indications are that the elections will be fought out between them.

With regard to Councillors runsour is busy with many names, but Wednesday alone -will disclose the truth or not of the rumours. The present Councillors are Messrs Btdger, urown, Castaing, Crichton, Green, Pemberton, Tanner and Whiting. Of t*ese Messrs Badger, Brown, Castaing, Green and Pemberton are not seeking re-election. Mr Washer, who was the other Councillor, recently resigned, and will in all probability" not be a candidate at this election. It will, therefore, be practically a new Council undertaking the control of Borough affairs during the coming two years. For the Harbour Board the only two candidates mentioned so far are Messrs J. G. Green, one of the sitting members, and Mr B. C. Robbins. Mr J. C. Adams, the other sitting member, has definitely declined to again seek reelection to the Board, although press ed to do so. There is talk of another candidate for the Borough's representation, on tee Board, but nothing defi- 1 nite is known as to the likely candi- i date.

For the Charitable Aid Board there seema little likelihood of a contest. Mr B. C. Robbins is the present representative, and is again offering his serviceß. The attendances at the recent meetings held by Mr Adams and the Mayor did not indicate any great interest on the part of ratepayers even in municipal matters, and much less interest is apparently being taken on this occasion than during the last two general elections.

The elections, where necessary, will be held on Wednesday, the 25th mat.
