General Haig reports : Early this morning the enemy strongly attacked on a front of sis miles astride the Bapaume-Oambrai road, undercover of a heavy bombardment ©f our new positions from Hermies to Noreuid.- The attack failed everywhere, except ac Lagnicourfc, where the enemy gained a foothold. After heavy fightiog a counter-attaok regained the village, out artillery indicting the heaviest losses on,. the Gorman retiring troops. ■■* .
