-♦■ The Katikati Agricultural a^d Pastoral Association have decided to hold their annual show on March loih. The monthly meetiDg of the Tauranga District High Pchool Committee will bo held this evening. Mrs Mille, proprietress of the Tivoli Dioing Roi-ms, notifies that .on race day diuner will be supplied from 11 a.m and tea from 5 p.m. The local branches of the Bank of New Zealand and of Australasia will observe a holiday on Friday next on | the occasion of the Agricultural Show. The Borough Council office will also be closed from noon, and at the invitation of the Mayor the tradesmen are observing the weakly half-holiday on Friday instead of to-morrow. At a meeting of the committee of the Municipal Band on Monday evening it was decided to run an excursion toOmokoroa on January 29 ' (Anniversary Day). Under date October 15, Private Allan O'Neill writeß from Sling Oamp to the Editor of the Bay of Plenty Times,Vstating that he arrived at Plymouth on October 6 and was about to proceed to the ba6e in 1 ranee. Three more cases of scarlet fever are reported in the Borough, the fifth within the past few weeks. In view of the recent cases some parents are apparently anxious about their children attending school. Mr Law, the head master, desires it to be known that all members of the families cono.prned attending school, have been debarred from coming, and every possible pre« cautiou taken to prevent anything in the nature of an outbreak. One of the teachers has aUo been relieved of duty until any danger of contagion is past. This unfortunate happening has necessitated the postponement of the children's concert, which was to have beea held just before Christmas, until perhaps towards the end of February.

The Hon. W H Homes and Hon. W D 8 Mac Donald will arrive in Tau« ranga to-morrow night and will be •taying at the Star Hotel. A few weeks ago Messrs R H Fhelan and Maltby, of Otumoetai, secured from Mr S R Lancaster, of Paimerston North, a purebred Jersey bull and ffre purebred yearling heifers. The cattle make a fine collection, and are a valuable additioirto the Jersey stock of this district. Mr Phelan has entered two of the heifers—Sweetest Hope and Silver Victoria —for the Tauranga Agricultural Show. These heifers are the progeny of K. 0. 8., one of the most famous Jersey bulls ever imported to New Zealand Included in the list of visitors stay* ing at the Star Hotel are:—Messrs btewart, Matata; Barry, Okoroire; Pollock, Rolfe* Smith, Auckland; Clarke, Te Kuiti; Cooney, Rotorua. Mr G V Stewart, Chairman of the Katikati Road Board, has received the following letter from Mr R S Hanna county clerk, Te Aroha, in regard to Thompson's Track:—"l have the honour, by direction of the Phko County Council, to acknowledge receipt of your letter of the loth inst on the ; above matter.
