OFFICERS AMAZED AT GERMAN CLAIMS.
Germans Lose at Least Twentyeight Ships. Rec June 10, 3.20 p.m. r London, June 9. Officers on furlough are amazed at the Germans' claim to victory. They describe the attacks of the enemy destroyers as feeble in the extreme. They seemed not to dare to persist in the attack. The firing of the Germans was accurate at tirat, but directly their ships were hit it became wild. These officers state that the Germans lost two vessels of the Kaiser class, two battle cruisers, four cruisers and i twenty destroyers, while five of the j German big ships were afire. The second salvo from a British vessel at eight thousand rards disposed of all the turrets of the Lutzow except one.. The Lutzow then burst into flames from right aft to the foremast. Five German Submarines Lost. Copenhagen, June 9. Messages from Kiel state that five German submarines have not returned from the^Skager Rack battle, and are regarded as lost. Enemy Destroyers Engaged off Zeebrugge. London, June 9. Official—British patrol monitors and destroyers engaged a Ynumber of German destroyers off] Zeebrugge. The latter returned to port when tbe monitors opened fire. We suffered no casualties and the ships engaged were undamaged.
