' Kec Oct 2. 2.30 p.m. Amsterdam. Get 1. A German communique rteords: — General yon Hindenburg stormed another position west of Dunaberg. The Russian attacks on the front and between Smorgon and Wiskhner collapsed with heavy losses. We captured on Thursday 1,300 Russians. Repeated partial attacks on Prince Leopold's army were all repulsed. Attacks on General Linsingen's army are still proceeding Our captures on the east front during September were 421 officers, 95,464 men, 37 guns and 298 machine guns Kec Oct 3, 12.5 p.m. Amsterdam, Oct 2. A German statement says: Genera! yon Hindenburg took eleven hundred prisoners near Smorgen. General Linsingen captured thirteen hundred prisoners on the Kormin. We took prisoners a further 1100 at other point. The Russians attempted to break through westward of Tarnopol. but failed, leaving live hundred dead.
