Laeh conple carried large fWj and as the participants went throut the usual -volutions of this cerem' nial opening number, a full opp °/ nity was presented to the assemblage of inspecting the various typea of iancy dress, their truth to character and general appearance. Many o f the costumes showed that considerable skill had been brought to bear in their construction, and some of th > creations were so real a? v deserve considerable praise. After coin? through the various movements' with the greatest precision the marchers grouped into position at the northern t?Hd of the hail and sang "Skiers of the KinK." The dance programme was then proceeded with, many of the dances in the iirst part being act apart solely lor the children. A feature cf the programme was the waltz de luxe, in which a large number of pupils took part and gave ample illustration of the care that had been bestowed in their instruction by Mi ss Carleton. Miss Edna (jifford danced an Irish jig in a graceful manner/ the accompaniment being faultlessly played by Mifs Clifford. Appreciative an. plause greeted this item, the young artist acknowledging the compliment by repeating her performance. A sword dance was skilfully performed by Misses K. and N. Ingram to (he strains of the bagpipes, which were well played by Mr J. Graham. The performance was full ot merit and the audience showed their appreciation with vociferous acclamation, the Misses Ingram responding with a Shean Truibhas. At intervals throughout the evening songs were rendered by Mi S3 McCredie, Messrs Worth ington, A. Hicks, C. Pye, and J. Fox, the accompanists being Misses Day, Carleton and Johansrn, and Mr vV. Handell. The items were well received and encores were given and responded to on several occasions. Miss Edna Gitt'orri captivated the audience with her recital "The Dinner Party," and as an encore scored a further success with "Nini, Ninette, Ninou." At 10.45 o'clock em adjournment whb made for supper, which wa9 partaken of in in the Foresters' new ball. The tables were pictures, being profusely decorated with flower 9 and coioura of red, whit* and blue. After justice had been done to the dainties provided Terpsichorear. activities were resumed and continued till 2.3 5 this morning, when the function was -brought to a close with the singing of the National Anthem. AH present voted the function an unqualified success and Miss Carleton waa heartily congratulated ali round on the progress that has been made during the -season by the pupils of here las 3.
