At the last meetiag of the Hotorua Chamber of Commerce, held on the 22nd inst., Mr W. J. Parsons read a letter from the Under-Secretary of Lands, staging that, it had been decided to utilise Run 81, Ngongotaha Survey District, for the extension of tree planting operations. Mr Parsons pointed out that the run in question comprised 5000 acres and was suitable for settlement.—A motion was carried to the effect that the Minister for Lands be written to requesting that Kun No. 81, Ngoiigotaha Survey District, be thrown open and subdivided for settlement and pointing out that it is detrimental to Rotorua that lands suitable for farming in the vicinity of the town should be closed to settlement by being passed over to the Forestry Department.
