In Souchez, Champagne and Argonne Regions. Hoc Sept 21), 9 30 pm Paris Sept 29 A comiuunujuc states : — We continue to gain ground on the foot aud towards the crests of Souchez. The prisoners include men brought back from the Ilussian front. We made progress at Champagne, particularly north of Massigucs, where we captured eight hundred prisoners. The enemy violently bombarded our trenches in the Argonne We did not attempt infantry action, but adopted grenade lighting, enabling in to regain part of our firing line, which the enemy was holding since yesterday. German Version. Rcc Sept 29, 0 50 pm Amsterdam, Sept 29 A German communique claims :— We gained gioum] agamst the Allies' offensive and captured twenty officers and 750 men. The French attacks near Souchez and on tho remainder of tho Champagne front'were repulsed.
