Ihe teachers at tho Mount school have groat pleasure in acknowledging the receipt of £1 is yd, contributed at that place by parents and friends interested. The contribution in this case is specially for gardoa work, and will enable a substantial -amount of not only experimental, but beautifying work as well to be done by the scholars under the teachers' guidance. This amount has been subsidised by the Board of Education to the extent of £110si>d. The T&uraugu Gun Ciub will hold a shoot for Mr Q Hume's tiophy on their range, Sulphur Point, at 230 p m to morrow, when a full attendance is requested. The Ngatiawa id due to leave for the coast at II to nighc. rlli9 Tauranga troop of JBoy scouts, under Scoutmasters Stewart and West, assembled in tho Coronation ' Hall on on Monday evening, Tho troop was insdeetcd by Lieut-Col. Cossgrove, Dominion Chief Scout, nnd the Provincial Commander, Mr JNowton, of Thames. Dr Bucknill, district coinmissioiifi', was also present. Speoches were delivered by Lieut■ Colonel ' Cossgrove and Mr Newton, and were j listened to by the boys with the closest attontion. A. display iv signalling and arnbulaLco work was given by the Scouts. Mr Newton invited tho troop to vieit the Thames at Christmas time and join tho Scouts encampment to be held there.
