Viscoivt Bryce's letter appealing to Ameiica to nssist in stopping Armeniau atrocities, adds: " The Turks' relentless cruelty is extirpating Christianity. The Armcuians had not rebelled. Unarmed men of military age were killed. Convoys of Turkish soldiers—largely released criminals—Bre driving the old men and women to unhealthy parts of the desert. Many have been murdered and the roads are strewn with corpses. All- will perish sooner or later."
The Italian Consul states that the troops drove ten thousand Armenians to the Trebizond shore and placed them in boats. The boats were taken out to sea and the occupants thrown overboard, all the men, women and children being drowned. In some cases the Armenians were saved by accepting Islamism, but half a million were slaughtered or deported and the latter are now dying of disease and starvation. Germany alone can' eiid the massacres America should persuade Germany to exercise her influence to stop such ghastly
