General Sir John French reports that the enemy's artillery increased its activity on our front during the past two days. We effectively replied. s s *■
' On the 20th part of the- forest of Mouthulsfc was ignited, our artillery causing a big explosion.
On the 19th air combats were fought Two hostile aeroplanes were driven to the ground in the German lines. One fell enveloped in ilaroes and the engine of the other took fire. Spies Sentenced. • The Press Bureau states that a man and a women of German origin were convicted for attempting to send abroad naval information calculated to be useful to the enemy. The* man Was sentenced to death and' the woman to ten years' imprisonment.
