STEFFANSON DISCOVERS NEW LAND.
Intends to Search for New Continent.

Ottawa, Sept 17. Steffanson has discovered new land south-west of St. Patrick's Land and does rot 1 propose to return home until he can ascertain the full extent of the new country, the existence of which was hitherto unsuspected.
Steffanson, with one schooner left, intends to acertain if the new land is the supposed Polar continent, whiqh many previous explorers believe exist 9 off' St. Patrick's Land. The news of Steffanson'a safety was secured through* the schooner Ruby, which went North on a search expedition, and also to take supplies to the Canadian North-west Mounted Police. Sept 18. 3.20 p.m. Nome, Alaska, Sept 17. The explorer^Steffanson announces to the Canadian Government the discovery of an important area of iand southwest ot Prince Patrick's Land.
