MbBDERED CHILD'S LEGACY

The Dean murder ut -liNo was recalled by a case heard in Chambers at the Supreme Court yesterday. Under the will of Colin MeLaehlnn, who died in 1844, certain money was left to his child, Colin Scoullar McLaehlan, believed to be Identical with the child known as Scoullar, who was in the custody of Minnie Dean, and who disappeared about the time a en-tain infant wa-s murdered by her.
MeLaehlan's "state was insufficient to pay all legacies in full and application was made on behalf of the surviving legatees that the amount reserved for the child be made available for payment to them. The" Chief Justice made an order declaring that the gift to the child never took effect, the child having died before the codicil was made. He added that there was no doubt the infant was murdered by Mrs Dean.
Mim Dean was a reputed baby far nu-r at laveic u'gill, and was convicted and hung for the murder of a child in 1895. Slie was the List woman hung in New Zaalnul.
